This is one of 6 panels painted directly on the wall of a client's dining room. The height of the piece is 10 ft. The floor of the room was marble & limestone which I simulated in all the trompe l'oeil architectural details (marble pillars, limestone panelling and pedestals). The views of Venice, and there are six different ones, are all copies of paintings by Canaletto. This job took me fourteen months, its the architectural detailing that is time consuming, the views were laid down and completed in only a couple of weeks. It is unusual for me to complete a job such as this on site, painting directly onto the walls. Most of my work is normally completed in the studio, painted on canvas and installed like wallpaper. The chair is real.
